Spreading the Tokidoki Love across Asia-Pacific and the world!

Finally we managed to find some time to take photos of our latest addition to our tokidoki toy collection - the tokidoki + devilrobots Plus Robots! Yes they’ve been sitting quietly in their respective boxes till last week when we took them out for a bit of photoshooting.

The Plus Robots are by Play Imaginative and consist of two gorgeously designed, 8″ high robots plus their companions. True to their own style, tokidoki and devilrobots managed to infuse the bots with their own design influences - tokidoki Astrodemonio is rebelliously cute (with more rounded edges) whilst devilrobots’ Evil King stay true to his Japanese robot roots (more blocky and defined design).

The packaging is quite interesting as well. Instead of having two separate boxes, the Plus Robots stay in their own boxes but is connected in the middle so that you can display both at the same time! It also makes keeping the boxes quite easy - fold it and it just becomes a bigger box (much like the tokidoki Miao’s).

The back of each box tells a bit of the story of each robot as well!
Just for your viewing pleasure, here are more photos of the tokidoki Astrodemonio packaging

Feel free to share your own photos of the Plus Robots!
P.S.We’re reserving some of the nicer images of tokidoki Astrodemonio for desktop wallpapers to share with you so make sure you are updated on the happenings on Tokidokizens!
If you did not managed to get yourself the gorgeous PLUS Robots by Play Imaginative featuring tokidoki and Devilrobots at the Singapore Toy and Comic Convention, you can grab them at Earth X right now. Not only that, they also have the Play Tofu series up for grabs as well (with the tokidoki secret tofu we spotted at the STCC) so quick get yourself down before they run out!
We at Tokidokizens has had a big, big night yesterday with the start of the Singapore Comic and Toy Convention’s Preview Night. In fact we only got home after midnight and I only managed to grab some sleep at 3am (it’s now 8am in Singapore as I’m typing this out) right after transferring the enormous amount of photographs that we took during the show. So here’s sneak peek at what we saw (and what you can expect) at the STCC 2008!

(Simone talking with Pete Fowler)
The event started with the Walk of Fame artists putting their illustrations on a blank STCC wall at the main entrance. We saw Devilrobots, Pete Fowler, Mori Chack together with Simone Legno, all drawing and creating the characters that made them famous. Very colourful and is definitely a ‘photo-op’ area you cannot miss!

We then rusheddd to the tokidoki booth (located on the left side of the event hall) and to our delight, it wasn’t a very small booth at all! Check out the graphics!

They will be selling past seasons of the US tokidoki collection (namely the tees and hoodies etc) together with tokidoki caps, a couple of tokidoki + LeSportsac bags at pretty reasonable prices (we think…) and you get either a tokidoki uchiwa or 3 tokidoki stickers with every purchase. The uchiwas and stickers can also be purchased by themselves of course.

Even though Simone was pretty jet-lagged and he was kinda like the ONLY person at his booth for a good half hour (which we felt was kinda weird… where are his helpers?), he was very, very accommodating to requests for photos and we managed to get him to sign some of the tokidoki items we brought along.

After dinner (yes we need the energy to continue our quest!), we returned to the event hall to check out what was going on at the other booths (and keeping an eye out for tokidoki stuff!). StrangeCo set up their booth right across from tokidoki’s and they do have majority of the tokidoki vinyl toys AND the exclusive platinum tokidoki SANDy ($60)! That’s where the fun (and assault on our minds and wallets) begun..

(tokidoki Taberon seen at the Toy Store - *gulps*)
THEN we spied something that I think is going to be UBER-COVETED… it’s tokidoki on Devilrobots’ Tofu! Ahhhh we want!!

(tokidoki Tofu seen at Devilrobot’s booth - TOO CUTE!!)
In order to withstand the temptation of all these toys, we then proceeded to our next venue, Butter Factory, where the Live Mural Art event was going to be held. A total of four panels, Pete Fowler took one, Shin from Devilrobots, Touma and Mori Chack took two (they combined them together) and Simone took the rightmost one.

The completed artwork - Rocker Cactus Girl is so cool!!

Before I end this post (and start preparing to go for another day of the convention + more tokidoki), here’s a shot of Simone’s tokidoki Onitsuka Tiger sneakers that we shot - UV light was an accident but it looks really cool!

Alrightes, see you at the convention again!

More reasons to save for a (tokidoki) rainy day… Zakkamono’s newest creation combined with the visual goodies of Simone Legno is now up for pre-orders. Only 500 pieces of the tokidoki Miao and his companion Mousabi (such a cute onigiri!!) are available worldwide and you can also pre-order from earthx’s site. No prices available as yet on earthx but according to Plastic and Plush, tokidoki Miao is priced at USD$80 + shipping.
I haven’t made up my mind yet whether I would want to get this particular toy, it does look yummy and I have a soft spot for lucky cats. I just thought the design would be more more exciting or oriental to suit the toy… hrmmm but it is only limited to 500 IN THE WORLD… decisions decisions…
(In other news, I have placed an order for the tokidoki + devilrobots Plus Robots that we blogged about previously… very excited waiting for the toys to arrive!)

Just spotted - the 8″ Plus Robots Vinyl Set (tokidoki x Devilrobots) by Play Imaginative is available for preorder on the earthx website! Expected arrival for the toys is in June/July this year with a limited quantity of 500 pieces.
Check out the uber cute Astrodemonio and Captain Murder Jr. (designed by Tokidoki) with the equally diabolic EVIL KING and Shin K (designed by Devilrobots). I like the ‘Transformer’ robot feel of the Devilrobot’s design and the rounded/cutesy style for Tokidoki’s version. As an avid Tokidoki toy collector, its been a long wait for me to get my hands on the pair… toysrevil has a few more images for your viewing pleasure! =)
